TEACHING:
Various projects I have facilitated using technology in teaching:
ED 480 Educational Technology: a course for pre-service student teachers where students were instructed in various use of technology to be integrated into their lessons and used to enhance their teaching. Each student created a blog that acted as a digital portfolio that held samples of their course projects. Students worked with web-based tools such as; Engrade, a web-based gradebook, Gliffy, a mind map, Weebly– a web-based portfolio, SlideShare, Youtube, and Flickr for photo sharing, and learned to use Microsoft Office suite as a productivity tool. Students created “webquests” and participated in “service learning ” going to local schools and completing a “Flat Stanley” project working with students in elementary levels to improve their English language skills.

Students in the Educational Technology Degree Program: Students worked with a variety of Web2.0 tools as well as other software needed to become teachers and Educational Technologist working in the field of education and e-learning. Students used blogs, wikis, and video to demonstrate the acquisition of the learning objectives. Students also learned to use Prezi, a presentation tool, Google Docs for collaborative lessons, and Twitter to build a professional learning network. Students also gained proficiency in technology tools needed to conduct research, such as Zotero and Survey Monkey. Students created digital portfolios of their work completed during the 4 year degree program using Adobe Dreamweaver and Acrobat Pro. All courses were taught face-to-face, but virtually enhanced with Moodle.
Students in the Ed Tech Degree Program completed a year-long Action Research Project and Student Teaching Practicum Course. The students acted as “change agents’ in the local schools, Ministry and other government organizations. During the first semester of the course each student completed a needs-analysis of an assigned site, selected a topic area of focus for their research that would improve teaching and learning using technology, then implemented the project during the second semester. The students’ final exhibition of their research projects was a magnificent event attended by students, teachers and college administrators, supporting mentors, and the Ministry.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Various professional development sessions I have presented:
Faculty have benefited from my teachings through many group professional development activities on emerging technologies and through individual consultations to develop the curriculum for specific disciplines with the addition of technology to enhance student learning, as well as online professional development courses I have taught.
Professional development sessions have been held on a variety of different software, new technologies including social media and Web2.0 tools to enhance teaching and student learning. In addition, faculty have learned to use “virtual learning environments” such as Blackboard and Moodle in their courses. One faculty came to love Moodle’s benefits and called it a “metal file cabinet in the sky” for its organizational ability, while another faculty, after learning to use Moodle professed, he “couldn’t imagine teaching without Moodle ever again.”

In addition to Faculty Professional Development I have presented on the use of emerging technology to enhance student learning through a variety of global conference presentations. A sampling of my presentations include: “Using Moodle Magic to Enhance Student Learning,” “Going Digital with Blooms,” “Video Capture,” “Building a PLN with Twitter for Faulty Professional Development,” and “How People Learn.” I recently presented at CO12, a totally online conference, “Using Technology for Critical Thinking.”
